Hey guys, this is Doug Favuzza. I want to share a quick devotion from the Bible to encourage you in your walk with the Lord today, that you may be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Our strength doesn’t come from ourselves; it comes from the Lord. Jesus said, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” He is the vine, and we are the branches. Without abiding in Jesus, we cannot produce the fruit of the kingdom of God—the lifestyle and character of Jesus, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We must learn daily to abide in Jesus; our strength comes from the Lord. This is just a brief encouragement to do that.
So, how do we do that? The key is prayer. Prayer moves mountains, as the Bible says, “The prayer of a righteous man avails much.” There is power in prayer for those who are born again and know Jesus. Your prayers are powerful; they move mountains.
You may be saying, “I feel weak, and I want a powerful prayer life.” Let me share with you an important key to having a powerful prayer life and a lifestyle of prayer. It’s not merely about willing yourself to pray or setting alarms. So, what is the key? Let me encourage you with something from the Bible: the key is revelation. Yes, revelation—how Father God feels about you personally, as His son or daughter.
In the Gospel of Matthew, chapter four, we see Jesus going into the wilderness to pray and fast for forty days. At the end of it, He defeats the devil. Jesus emerges from that wilderness empowered by the Holy Spirit. But what was the key, the rocket fuel, that Jesus took into those forty days and nights of prayer and fasting? It was revelation—how the Father felt about Jesus as His son. In Matthew 3:17, when Jesus was baptized, the heavens opened, and the Father spoke, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” That revelation of the Father’s heart fueled Jesus during His time in the wilderness.
The same key applies to you and me—knowing how the Father feels about us personally. He sings over you; He delights in you. Just like a parent cheering on their child as they learn to crawl or walk, God is cheering you on in your growth. You may not be perfect, but you are growing, and God is perfecting you by His Holy Spirit. He says over you, “You are my beloved son, my daughter, in whom I am well pleased.” Catching that revelation is the key to igniting a powerful lifestyle of prayer.
Let that revelation be the fuel that propels you into the heart of Jesus, producing the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the fruit of prayer. You are greatly beloved, and that revelation can become the rocket fuel for developing a lifestyle of prayer. Remember, your prayers are heard, and they avail much. Keep seeking the Lord, abide in the vine, and watch God use your prayers to move mountains in your life, your family’s life, your city, your nation, and your ministry.
